Karen Wells is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She began writing and playing music when she was 15 years old. She started performing at local coffee shops and around Texas in the mid 90s, playing festivals such as the Luckenbach Music Festival 3 years in a row, and Girls with Guitars in 2001. She hosted the Christian Music Connection in 1999. She's hosted many singer-songwriter showcases over the years from the former Borders bookstore, Angle Talk coffee house and newly renovated TacoLand.

She's had various music groups such as the Karen Wells Band, Melon Sky, South River Trio, and currently performs as the Lead Singer and Songwriter of Karen Wells & South River. She has made appearances on Kens 5 morning show and participated in the Military River Parade on the San Antonio River Walk. Karen has performed at coffee houses and song writer showcases all across Texas and was well received with her down to earth story telling and her captivating songwriting ability. Wells and Palen met at a songwriters showcase in 2001 and performed as a duet for a while, then went on to pursue solo careers. Karen Wells, Eric James Guerra, and Sean Palen have come together to create musical chemistry, elegant harmonies, and poetic artistry as word smith's Sean Palen and Karen Wells came together as a powerful song-writing team. Eric James Guerra, as the the time keeper, pulled every song together.

In the last decade, Karen has released a number of Cd's including: the 2001 release of "Rain Sessions," "Wild Weed Child" in 2004, and "Beautiful like the Rain" in 2008. Karen Wells and Eric James released "No More Rain" in 2012. The band has performed in venues such as The Cove, Cypress Creek Cafe, The Purple Iguana, Tycoon Flats, The Pearle Farmers Market, Boehler's ,Joe Blues, The San Antonio River Parades,The Houston Street Fair,Casbeers at the Church, The Tin Roof, Oma's Geezerfest, Pink Fest in Wimberley, London Dance Hall, Etho's Cafe', La Gloria at the Peal, Tacoland, and Guene Hall with Bill Chambers and Jessica Bell.

Today, Karen writes and performs with her band Karen Wells & South River.

She anticipates her most recent recording project with producer, Daniel Barret of Rubicon Studios entitled "Magnolia Rain" She  has some new ideas in the works!  My next album is Cosmic Dreamer reimagining many of my songs written in the 90's... to now.
